Snow Day -- January 27th, 2009

The Johnston 4 heading out to play in the snow on our first snow day!

Sawyer decides to clean the deck for awhile.

Sawyer's first day of school--January 29th, 2009. Sawyer started a preschool
co-op today. He'll go one day a week and every 3rd week the kids will come to our house.
He was so excited and wanted to have his school picture taken just like
his siblings did on their first day of school.

January 23, 2009

Our first time making it to the clinic before it opened for the day. Sawyer desperately wanted to get in and play with the train table. Here he is making a Power Ranger move outside of the main door. The pro's of having the earliest appointment: 1) For Mom--Front row parking space & 2) For Sawyer--Having the train table to himself.
Yippee, the train table!

The Johnston 4 heading to our friend's military retirement. Sawyer's more interested in the helicopters and Hunter had no desire to have his picture taken.

Sawyer really wanted a piece of this cake--actually he just wanted the iciing.

On our way home from the retirement celebration, Sawyer said he needed a band-aid because his head hurt. Here's where he put the band-aid. Sure would be nice if a band-aid could solve all of our problems.

January 16, 2009 -- Future Power Ranger

This morning I was in my room doing my personal study while Sawyer was in our computer room playing a computer game (or so I thought.) I could hear the game running so I figured he was playing his game like usual...but nope! A few minutes later Sawyer came bounding in the bedroom exclaiming, "I'm a Power Ranger!"
He also decided to color the computer and computer desk. Thankfully, he did not do this to our new computer! That would have been awful!

The black marker would not come off completely. You can still see traces on his face, hands and arms. Hmmm...now I'm wondering who left a black marker out?

Consult at John Hopkins -- January 15, 2009

The nurse was quizzing Sawyer to see if he knew the names of the various character posters hanging around the vitals' room. Sawyer's pointing at one of the posters.
Blood pressure time!

Notice the dark gray on Sawyer's sleeves. He was playing in the sink while we were talking to Dr. Williams and got soaking wet--at least it kept him occupied. He did not want to be examined. Thankfully, Dr. Williams was able to squeeze in a quick examination while Sawyer was standing.

Saywer continued standing up for his examination.
Walking out of the clinic with his decorated comfort doll.

Heading to the car with Dad. Boy, is it cold!

Our beautiful Ms. Makenna getting ready to head to her SOL reception.

Super Fun Preschool Field Trip -- January 6, 2008

Hunter had a really fun field trip this past week. His class went to Papa John's Pizza. After watching a pizza making demonstration and touring the store, the kids were able to make their own personal pizzas. Of course, Sawyer always thinks he's part of the class and joins in on everything. He even raises his hand to answer questions. He had so much fun making his own pizza.

January 2009

Sawyer and his finished pizza!
Sawyer was not excited about having his picture taken.

Making yummy ice cream in our ice cream ball--Thanks, Michelle!

Yummy!

Hunter was so excited to finally have a chair for his desk. It arrived this week. (His desk is an odd height and it's taken quite sometime to find the perfect chair.) Hunter's been busily using his desk ever since and now informed me that he needs a desk lamp.

Our Annual Christmas Eve Party

Sawyer and some friends enjoying the Christmas crackers.

Every family participated in our talent program--from Christmas tumbles to guitar/piano duets. Here's Bridger playing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer."
Sawyer wanted to do the bunny/carrot skit over and over.

We ended the evening with the children acting out the nativity. Sawyer was the only one who wouldn't dress up.

A few Christmas pictures -- 2008

Christmas morning tradition--lining up youngest to oldest to head downstairs to see what Santa brought. Sawyer's more excited about the Play-Doh he found in his stocking.
